The Wonder Years - "Came Out Swinging"

Though on the whole I'd refer you to their earlier album The Upsides, this video does a great job of capturing the spirit of this awesome band.

Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer - "Argh . . . I'm a Pirate"

The first in a series of videos from acts that make me proud to be from the Philadelphia area. Don't mess with your computer volume, because sound doesn't hit until 11 seconds in - it's worth the wait.

The Project

Few things spoke to me growing up the way that music videos did.  I remember jumping around my family's living room to Bon Jovi's "Livin' on a Prayer" before I was ten.  As a teenager, I remember staying up every Sunday night to watch 120 Minutes, the program that introduced me to some of the most significant bands in my young, music-listening life like Weezer, Superchunk, The Promise Ring, and a great number of others.

As I continue making my own music as an adult, I realize how much I miss this format.  Of course everything is online, but everything is too much to conceivably sort through.  As for the beloved music video channels of my youth, there is currently nothing in the way of music to be found on them.  The shame of it being that part of what I had enjoyed so much was someone taking the time to pick out and present great music that appealed to me.  "Video" channels are presenting nothing, commercial radio seems determined to present the same ten popular songs from the past decade, and music magazines don't seem to have the same kind of awesomeness filter that I found in music video providers growing up.

So what I will attempt in this Music Video Project is to once again put a growing collection of music videos that speak to me in one place, in the hope that people of like-minded taste might find such a collection to have an appeal.

Thank you for your interest.
